Anneli and Thomas
San Gimignano, September 2006

(click for larger versions)

Anneli and Thomas were married in the town hall of San Gimignano mid September, and returned to this villa for the wedding reception.

The villa is ideal for a medium sized wedding party: the villa sleeps 20 guests, but there is space under the loggia for a party of 40 or more. We arranged local caterers for a special meal of traditional Tuscan dishes. A typical menu for this type of meal:

Aperitifs
Grissini bread sticks with prosciutto ham
Salami: Finocchiona - fennel favoured.
Stuffed tomatoes
small mozzarella balls with tomato and basil
smoked salmon salad with julienne of cucumber and radish.

First courses
Garganelli pasta with porcini mushrooms and saffron
Ravioli with orange and lemon dressing, with sugared orange slices.

Second courses
Fillet steak in breadcrust, with red peppers and baby carrots with herbs and vegetable compote
Sea-bass with parsley, tomatoes, garlic and white wine.

Wedding cake
Usually a millefoglie layered cake, of flake pastry, Chantilly cream and either berry fruit or chocolate chip, decorated with fruit and foliage.
