The Cinque Terre, - littreally the "Five Lands" - are a short stretch of the Ligurian coast, North of Tuscany and Pisa, South of Genova. An area of outstanding natural coastal beauty, and brilliant classic Italian architecture that seems to arise from the sea. The area, part of the Italian Riviera, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Cinque Terre are comprised of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. To the North of these lies the stunning seaside village of Portofino. A walking trail connects the five villages. The trail from Riomaggiore to Manarola is called the Via Dell'Amore (roughly, "Lovers Walk") The area is ideally suited for smaller, more intimate wedding events, as there are less grand vistas and larger villas or hotels.
