The oldest part of this amazing castle, in the heart of the Chianti wine producing region, dates back to the 12th century.Wine is at the heart of the castle’s activity, but hospitality comes a close second! The stunning terrace in front of the castle makes for an unforgettable blessing location, while the massive formal lawn behind the castle is ideal for a formal or relaxed seated meal, and party to follow.
The castle also has a large internal courtyard, and several internal halls for an internal setting, if necessary.
As for accommodation: the Castello Gelsomino offers eleven large, comfortable rooms with hotel conditions, and four self contained apartments, sleeping up to 16 guests, for a minimum of three nights (outside high season) and located in the castle’s farmhouse.
Other than a wedding event, the castle has a wonderful restaurant, offering top local cuisine in an informal setting, also ideal for cooking courses. The castle offers cellar tours and wine tasting.
Finally, the location: This castle is not only immersed in the best Chianti has to offer, it’s also only 15 KM from Florence, 35 KM from Siena. While public transport will not get you to the castle (car hire is recommended) once you’re there, you’ll find little reason to leave!
